Pacific Harbour Terminal

Project narrative

A deep-water intermodal terminal and cold-chain distribution facility built on reclaimed foreshore, delivered while the adjacent berth stayed in continuous operation.

The challenge

The site sat on 14 metres of marine fill with a liquefaction risk that ruled out conventional spread footings. Terminal operations could not pause, which capped daytime crane movements and restricted laydown to a 40-metre corridor.

Our approach

We self-performed 2,400 stone columns for ground improvement and sequenced the structural steel from a barge rather than the landside yard. A 4D model tied every pick to the berth schedule, and night pours kept the 62,000 m³ of concrete off the operator's peak hours.

The outcome

Substantial completion landed three weeks ahead of the contract date with a final cost 1.8% under the guaranteed maximum price. Zero lost-time incidents across 1.9 million worker hours.
